Preventive maintenance

Preventive maintenance is the routine maintenance done on your vehicle at specific mileage intervals, which typically involves Engine Lube Oil and Filter replacements, Fuel filter replacement (diesel vehicles), vital fluids check and top up, followed by an inspection to prevent any unexpected breakdown. Tracking and managing this usually depends on the drivers and the fleet supervisor. We have noticed that these maintenance schedules are sometimes stretched due to the demanding operational requirements. But the cost of not managing preventive maintenance is quite high, leading to frequent service interruptions, delays, stress and high cost, not only on the vehicle but also for the business. The Vehpal GPS assisted maintenance module helps you to track, update and alert the fleet admins about upcoming vehicle maintenance and plan it accordingly through our onsite or garage-based service teams.

Corrective and reactive maintenance

Corrective and reactive maintenance are unplanned maintenance. Corrective maintenance is carried out for issues which, if left unattended, can soon result in a failure/breakdown of the vehicle. These are usually identified during the repairs of related/ adjacent parts of the vehicle.

E.g., While performing break overhauls for a 4.2-ton fleet, it is a good practice to check the inner and outer hub seals and replace if required; this saves time and repeat labor cost. At Vehpal, it is mandatory to follow SOP for each maintenance job and inform the client about any due maintenance activities to same time and money for our customers.

Reactive maintenance is commonly known as repair work; they are done after failure of vehicle parts/components. The aim of all fleet owners is to limit the number of reactive maintenance as it leads to increased downtime, costs, towing charges, damage to adjoining parts and safety of personnel and equipment.

While eliminating the reactive maintenance is a goal too farfetched, this can be brought under control through proper vehicle inspection, giving pre-drive check points to drivers, and keeping a log of frequently occurring issues. The Vehpal FRAME module with GPS is specifically designed to cater to your business requirements and increase your fleet ROI with detailed vehicle- wise fleet maintenance history, maintenance due alerts, part replacement history, fleet availability hours, breakdown rate, free expert consultations and much more.
